---|---|
Donkey Kong | Donkey Kong, also known simply as DK, D.K., or D. Kong, is a major character in the Mario franchise and the main protagonist of the Donkey Kong franchise. He is a powerful and carefree Kong that lives in Donkey Kong Island, and he likes to collect bananas and spend time with his friends, particularly his best friend Diddy Kong. However, he has also been portrayed as an antagonist on multiple occasions, mainly in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series. Donkey Kong is the name of two Kongs; as of Donkey Kong Country, the original Donkey Kong is currently known as Cranky Kong, with the current Donkey Kong being Cranky Kong's grandson and Donkey Kong Jr.'s son. And if you touch one of the crew members they go MONKEY MODE!! |
Diddy Kong | Diddy Kong, also known simply as Diddy, is the deuteragonist of the Donkey Kong franchise and Donkey Kong's sidekick. He is a creation of the British company Rare Ltd., which produced many successful Donkey Kong games that Diddy Kong either starred or co-starred in, but after Rare lost their rights to the Donkey Kong franchise due to Microsoft purchasing the company from Nintendo, who kept the rights of all Donkey Kong series characters, including Diddy Kong, he went on to become a regular character in spin-off Mario franchise titles.Diddy sports a red shirt with yellow stars and a red hat with the Nintendo logo printed on it. The name "Diddy" is a slang word used in some parts of northern England for "small," as Diddy Kong is. Diddy Kong has gone on many adventures by himself, occasionally with his girlfriend Dixie Kong, and has even starred in his own racing game for the Nintendo 64 and later in its remake for the Nintendo DS. |
Tiny Kong | Tiny Kong is a character from the Donkey Kong franchise. She first appeared as a young child in Donkey Kong 64 as Dixie Kong's taller, younger sister, (much like Luigi is Mario's slightly younger but taller brother) before being redesigned into her current "teenage" appearance in Diddy Kong Racing DS. As Dixie's sister, she is the cousin of Kiddy Kong and Chunky Kong. She is known for being both nimble and fast and using her two ponytails to accomplish different tasks.Following her first appearance she hasn't had any important roles in any other platform game, but was given cameo appearances in the Donkey Kong Country Game Boy Advance remakes of the Super Nintendo games. Since her older redesign in Diddy Kong Racing DS, where her name "Tiny" went from literal to ironic, she has played a larger role in spin-off adventures such as Donkey Kong Barrel Blast and has even appeared in Mario Super Sluggers. With a few exceptions, she is generally playable in the games in which she appears. |
Lanky Kong | Lanky Kong is an orangutan and an ally of the Kong family in the Donkey Kong franchise. His first appearance is in Donkey Kong 64. In Donkey Kong 64, Lanky is one of the four Kongs imprisoned by the Kremling Krew, the other three being Diddy Kong, Tiny Kong, and Chunky Kong. Lanky is imprisoned in Angry Aztec in Llama's Temple. To free Lanky, Donkey Kong must swim below the temple's main floor and use his Coconut Shooter on a Coconut Switch next to Lanky's cage. After this, Lanky is unlocked as a playable character and can be selected from the Tag Barrels. Lanky's corresponding color is blue, meaning he is the only Kong who can collect bananas, Banana Coins and blueprints of that color.Being an orangutan, Lanky is capable of stretching his arms afar, which he can even use to defeat weak enemies (such as Gnawty and Kritter) with. From Cranky's Lab, Lanky's first individual ability is Baboon Balloon, the second is OrangStand, and the third one is OrangStand Sprint. Every Kong, including Lanky, are capable of using Simian Slam and its stronger variants. From Funky's Store, Lanky can acquire the Grape Shooter for his personal weapon, allowing him to shoot grapes at enemies and targets. At Candy's Music Shop, Lanky can learn to perform the Trombone Tremor ability from his personal trombone. |
Chunky Kong | Chunky Kong is one of the Kongs in the Donkey Kong franchise, and he first appears in Donkey Kong 64. Chunky is a big and strong member of the Kong Family but is somewhat meek. He is the cousin of Tiny Kong and Dixie Kong and the older brother of Kiddy Kong.In Donkey Kong 64, Chunky and the three other Kongs, Diddy Kong, Tiny, and Lanky, were captured by the Kremlings to distract Donkey Kong while they steal his banana hoard. Chunky is the fourth and final Kong to be rescued, although he can be rescued before Tiny Kong if Lanky is rescued first, then once Donkey Kong goes to Frantic Factory once it is possible to rescue him. Chunky is imprisoned in Frantic Factory's Storage Room, where he is locked in a cage that hangs from the ceiling. Lanky Kong can free Chunky by using OrangStand to walk up a pipe and Simian Slam a Kong Switch on top. This causes Chunky's cage to fall down and break, thus freeing him. This allows the player to select Chunky from a Tag Barrel, and to collect green bananas, Banana Bunch Coins, and green blueprints.Chunky acts as the game's comedic relief. This is first shown in the DK Rap opening, where he briefly wears a 1970s-era disco outfit, but then quickly changes into his regular outfit after realizing that the other Kongs are in their normal outfit. Another instance is in the Tag Barrel, where he acts the opposite of the other Kongs, who want to be selected: if the player highlights Chunky, he gets scared of being chosen by the player and points to Tiny. If the player highlights the next Kong, Chunky is shown expressing a sigh of relief. Additionally, after Chunky falls to the ground from high up (which makes him lose a Melon of his health), he gets up with a shrunk torso and limbs. Chunky proceeds to inflate those body parts back to normal size. |
